Bug? Click pull down menu, drag on text, text selected from top

1. Steps to reproduce

i) Click on pull down menu / artificial dropdown box
ii) Drag on the document (text or empty space)
iii) The text selected will be from the document start to the dragged position.

Definition: Drag is an action of holding the mouse's left button and move the mouse.

2. Expected to see

The same behavior as if selecting text on the page.

3. What I saw instead

The selection started from the document beginning to the dragged position.

Sorry, I'm not sure what pulldown menu you mean.

Hi, "pull down menu" are those "Admin", "My Settings", "Extras" and "Help" on the upper right of the main menu of FogBugz. They all have a reversed triangle next to them.

Anyway, you could try on things that will create a floating area to see this effect. Such as click on the search box, it will pop a list of typed search. Drag on the document text at this moment would see the same effect (Firefox 3.5.1 tested) too.

Or click on "Filters", then those items like "Save current filter as.." will appear. Drag at this moment.

Addition information:

This issue is repeatable only on Firefox 3.5.1 that I have just tested together with IE and Chrome.

IE 6.0.2900 is fine, though an icon showing "not permitted" is shown when dragging.

Chrome 2.0.172 is fine.

Thanks! We do not yet fully support FireFox 3.5.x.  I'll file a bug report.
