"Most recently edited cases first" - based on what?

After upgrading to FB4 (Windows/mysql) I was eager to try the new "Most recently edited cases first"-sorting in filters.
It turns out that all upgraded cases were given the same invisible (GUI-wise) time stamp, so the sorting doesn't work until we've worked in FB4 for a while.

For some reason, I don't like "hidden" data.
If there is a time stamp for each case that is separate from the time of the last entry, can we please have it be shown as a property of the case and have an explanation of why it would differ from the time of the last entry?
Is this only an upgrade issue?

This is just an upgrade issue.  For all new cases and for old cases once they are edited, this will work ok for you.
