Disable yellow tooltip (sticky note) hints

I am running  FogBugz 4.0.29 (DB 469)

Is there a way to turn off those yellow hints that appear when the user clicks in each field? We have all been working with issue tracking systems for years and we really don't need these tips - they are just really annoying.

It's made worse because we've "hijacked" a couple of the fields for our own company-specific purpose which menas not only is the tooltip hint unwanted, it is actually wrong in our specific case.

(Apologies if this has already been answered. I searched the forum and KB but couldn't find anything)

I think there's a way in personal preferences to select yourself as an advanced user.  That should remove all the hints.

Sorry, maybe I'm too dumb but I can't find this anywhere.

I've looked under user options and can't find anything.

I tried logging on as admin and going into user administration. I can mark a user as an administrator (which isn't exactly what I want andyway) and even so, the user still sees the yellow tips.

What do you mean by "expert"? And under which menu do I find it?

There isn't an option for this, so nathan's tip won't help you.

But you can modify them to show the text that you want just by editing lang.asp

Or you could remove them by editing dlgBugEditing.asp (I think the box is called "helpbox")

nathan was tricked by his memory, I wanted to write the same answer yesterday! The option was there in an older version of Fogbugz, when all the hints ran down the right side of the form.

Thanks for your help guys.

I guess I'll have to do some hacking around in the code to turn these off. It's not a critical requirement but they're just soooooooo annoying.

In case anyone else comes looking for this in the forum, I thought I'd post what I did.

NOTE: This seems to have worked but... I have no idea if it breaks any other functionality. I take no responsibility for this change and you can use this at your own risk.

At line 188 in the file preheader.asp locate the following code:

cpersonTmp.Load GetPersonID
g_fExpert = cpersonTmp.fExpert

Change this to:

cpersonTmp.Load GetPersonID
g_fExpert = True

This marks all logged on users as "Expert" which causes the tips to be hidden. This has the nice side effect that non logged on users still get the tips.

As I say, I don't however know if setting the g_fExpert flag has any other side effects.
