What does selecting Items in Spam, then clicking on Spam do?

I've got a hosted version of FogBugz, so I need to get rid of Spam fast. I did this by clicking my emails in the Spam area and then clicking on Spam again. The emails seemed to disappear. However it looked like the items were just somehow "hidden.". What do I do? In a hosted environment, I might need to get rid of Spam, even faster than in 1 day.

Currently the fastest way to get rid of spam is in 1 day.  The only alternative is to install a filter at the mail server end so that the emails never end up in FogBugz.

Thank you. The only other question is, when I hit Spam by selecting items already in the Spam folder, what happens to them? I cannot find them, but they are still taking up space on the database.

They are resolved as SPAM and closed.  If the message is already in the SPAM folder, this doesn't do anything additional to get them deleted faster though.
