Feature Request: date range syntax extension

[forgive me if I have posted this before... I have been thinking about it for awhile... ]

Specifically: a "last n days" kind of syntax.

Currently, I can do this:

  editedby:mark edited:"this week"

That works great on Thursday! On a Monday... it doesn't do me much good.

What I cannot do (that I know of!) is:

  editedby:mark edited:"last 7 days"

Rather, I have to do the date range thing, which is:

1) A PITA
2) I cannot save into a filter

To fully flesh this out, I am looking for these kinds of options:

"since <date>"  // so the TO date is always today, dynamically

"last n days/weeks/months"

thx!!

+1 vote for the "last n days/weeks/months".

For your first request of "sice <date>", ".." means date range, and not putting an end date means until today:

editedby:mark edited:"10/01/2008.."

Which gives cases edited by mark since Oct 1st 2008 (in US format, personally I'd use 01/10/2008 'cos I'm in the UK).

Ohhhh, nice!

I don't think that is one of the Date example in the help file....

FogBugz Folks... can the appro page in the help file be made complete?

(Specifically, the page "Searching for cases ", section "Here are some date search examples:"

(that area of the help file is the only area I ever use... and I use it several times a month)

I can clearly see the utility of this.  It really allows for a GTD, burn-through-it process with dealing with cases.

I've advocated for this in the past (since, I think, my third week on the job) and haven't gotten very far.  This means it's either a.) hard with Lucene, or b.) not understood to be a very helpful/important feature.  I'll corner the lead dev at lunch and figure out which it is.  If A, I'll report back as to why it's hard.  If B, I'll get on my soapbox and see how far I get.

So I've talked to a couple of the devs here and I *think* I've gotten across the impact of this possible change.  We think it's pretty easy and that the impact is high, so we're going to try.  This is going to be one of my pet projects for FogBugz 7.
