A forum for technical support discussion related to Fogbugz.
hi - so, I'm trialing fogbugz and i love what i see so far, but have a question:
is fogbugz a useful project planning tool?
I've been using dotproject where it is possible to create project, then tasks and then subtasks and add development time estimates to each of these projects.
I would new project: database
then add a task: design database
then add a subtask: sit with developers and discuss database requirements.
which would look like:
----sit with developers and discuss database requirements.
Is this sort of hierarchy possible and simple to do with fogbugz?
hope this makes sense, and thanks for your help,

The monkey-wrench here is that dependencies are a bear to do with evidence-based scheduling. We're looking into sub-tasks for FogBugz 7, but have not yet determined whether we're going to include this functionality. We certainly recognize the usefulness of this kind of organization, but we're not yet sure whether we're going to be able to deliver, much as we'd like to, as it's not as simple as it seems.
Couldn't you (technically) disable the time estimation for parent tasks, instead showing what the total estimation of its children is with an over/under?
That way, you can easily take a task that you thought was simple and break it into multiple sub-tasks, but still have your scheduling be on track without a lot of confusion.
