Email notifications don't work after upgrading from 5 to 6

Email notices on case status changes stopped working right after I have upgraded my FogBugz.
I checked, the FogBugz service is running. How to troubleshoot and fix this problem?

Are there mail messages in the MailQueue?

If so, did your machine url change?  Are there any errors when you log in as an admin at the top of the page?

Also when I was running a diagnostic tool I've got this message on step 10

Go to Settings->Site and update the url there (it's on the advanced tab I believe).

The error from your SMTP server makes me think that it requires authentication but you haven't yet entered that info (also on settings->site)

I don't know exactly what is going on. But it looks like after upgrade it couldn't communicate with the same SMTP server as the previous version worked with successfully. It sounds a little weird to me. Did you guys changed anything in the way the maintenance service communicates with the server?
Anyway after I changed settings to a different SMTP server it worked fine.
But all of this looks a little weird.
