Deleting discussion groups

Hi,

I just deleted a discussion group being sure will not disappear, but will just be marked as deleted and no more visible for the users based on fogbugz philosophy that nothing can be deleted from fogbugz. Well surprise the group is really gone....did not lost too much but i could have. Is this not dangerous? Someone may delete it by accident, why you added this option while nothing else in fogbugz can be really deleted?

It's still there.  Just the fDeleted flag is set to 1 in the database. Setting the fDeleted to 0 for that row in the db will undelete it.

I see, this is great news ... but working with database directly may not be so user friendly, would be better to be allowed to do so from interface, as you may with the posts for example. It is not a must but nice to have and consistent with the rest of delete features.

Deleting a discussion group:

Can that only be done in the db, or can it also be done via the GUI?

(I have been wanting this for 1+ years now... tickled there may be a path to do it!)

Choose Discuss-Customize and then hit the trash can icon to delete any discussion group.

That feature has been there since we added discussion groups.

Many things in FogBugz can be deleted.  Projects, areas, wikis, discussion groups, departments.  They all follow the same flag-based deletion protocol.  Users and fix-fors cannot be deleted for reasons of data integrity.  We don't advocate editing the database directly, but undeletion always involves setting a flag.
