What program "upgrades" the database

I'm getting an error trying to upgrade from version 6 to version 7 so I'm trying to do a manual upgrade. I'm getting stuck at the "your db is being updated" screen. It doesn't seem like anything is doing an update. I have both the website as well as the maintenance program running. Please advise.

FogBugz itself does the upgrade... i.e. when you load the page, FogBugz sees the db doesn't match the required version and performs the upgrade while loading the page.

So it does it in the ASP.NET environment? Can a timeout occur if the db is large? Also, I know that with 6.0, we had to register a bunch of COM DLLs. Do we need to do the same with 7.0 if we're doing a manual install?

No, I don't think you have to do that (register COM) in 7.0.  I think you might be the first person trying to do a manual 7.0 install so I'm not sure of the roadblocks.

It is possible that depending on your db (especially if it's MySQL) that things can time out when you are trying to upgrade.

So far, it's a much better idea to resolve the errors rather than trying a manual upgrade.  Contact us at customer-service@fogcreek.com and we'll work through it.
