I have a maintenance contract and am considering upgrading to 7.0.30.
It is of paramount importance that (1) FogBugz remains operational, (2) all old data is migrated and (3) that we can continue to have the "Your other cases" section disabled (shown in the bottom of the screen when clicking on the ticket link provided in the automated response).
Story behind (3) is that we use the system for customer support and want to avoid that clients can see each other’s tickets. We know from experience that this can very well happen. For example, if clients are sending their queries to an employee's email and the employee then forwards this email to FB - then the employee becomes associated with the ticket. If the employee has done this more than one time for more than one client, the tickets are all bound together through the employees email etc.
Since we cannot be 100% sure employees will not forward emails to FB, we decided to change a variable in the code that would remove the "Your other cases" section.
Please advise if the upgrade would overwrite this setting and advise how to avoid the above issue?
The upgrade will definitely overwrite your custom modification.
In order to keep it, you'd have to make the same change in the appropriate .was file in the src-website folder after you install FogBugz and then run build.bat in the FogBugz folder.

Looking at my previous post regarding this (dated back to Feb 2009) that is titled:
Remove "Your cases" section from ticket status view?
The solution (customisation) would be to set: fSingleViewOnly = true
Can you confirm this is also the case in version 7.0.30?
Can also you let me know if Rich’s promise has been implemented and how?: “For those looking to modify the source, the variable fSingleViewOnly in CBug.asp/php controls whether this is shown. I'll open a feature to make this globally settable.” Rich Armstrong (12 February 2009). It would be really helpful if I could set this variable/setting through the UI rather than through the CBug.asp/php file.
My wish has not yet been granted. I'd like this and several other hard-coded values to be housed and editable in the Setting table. (The other two are number of replies to a single address in an hour, and max number of cases shown.)
